You'll start at the moated grounds of Slot Assumburg, a 13th-century stronghold now serving as a youth hostel, before crossing the old village heart around the Dorpskerk — first mentioned in 1063 — and the former town hall on Burgemeester Nielenplein. From there you'll pass the neo-Renaissance towers of the Sint-Laurentiuskerk and a former Catholic girls' school that now safeguards the village's memory, before following a historic lime-tree avenue north to Kasteel Marquette, an estate that still borders the great Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat.
